Thank you SO much for donating to our cause. It was very heart warming to see how quickly our little fundraiser received attention. Our girls, staff and school appreciate your generous donation. Thank you for helping our girls to be set up for success! It truly makes a world of difference!”

  • Transportation for 826LA Field Trip

    Funded Sep 15, 2019

Thank you all SO much for your donations! You all made a huge impact in my students' lives. Because of your donation we were able to safely get to our field trip where my students created books in UNDER 3 hours! My students, staff and I are extremely grateful and humbled by all of your help. We really appreciated how quickly all of you sprung at the chance to help our students.

One of the highlights from the trip was walking around 826LA and listening to each group of students passionately talking (some arguing), laughing, and discussing HOW they wanted their story to unfold. It was truly amazing to see my students read and write their own books!

My students have faced many hardships in their lives. Somehow they have made it to middle school without being able to read on grade level. Because of this I tell my students that they are survivors. They have made such great gains in their reading development and I am beyond proud of their progress. Giving them the opportunity to experience this field trip was something they will always remember fondly. Thanks to ALL of you, they are PUBLISHED AUTHORS!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Gordon

826LA invites classes to participate in completely free, writing-based field trips. Our field trips offer a fun and safe space for students to express their imaginations and practice their writing skills. Supported by our volunteers, students work collaboratively while brainstorming, writing, and editing an original work. At the end of a field trip students leave with something tangible—a bound book or revised essay—and confidence in their ability to write, create, and inspire. Our students will be participating in 826LA's Small Group Storytelling field trip. In this Field Trip, students are invited to the 826LA writing lab as guest authors for the day. Students work in small groups and with our volunteers to create an original story from start to finish – constructing characters, finding a setting, and planning a plot suitable for all ages. Each group’s story will be published, and every student will leave with their own copy of their book to share with family and friends.
