I am working with several different "types" of readers in my special education classrooom. Some of them are visually impaired and use speech-to-text or audible readers, and some of them are reading above their grade level. Some of them are on grade level, but some of them struggle with even Kindergarten or 1st grade readings. Being able to connect the books to their real lives or to other, real people will be such an essential part of understanding the importance of reading and writing in our world.
