Funded Nov 18, 2023Thank you so much for helping to change our kids lives and their futures. The love of reading is vital to life long learning and we are grateful for your contributions. I'm glad we can continue with our journey of learning to read and reading to learn.
May the Creator bless you all for this, it means the world to us.

New Books and Maker Space to Revamp New Library!
Funded Mar 6, 2020All kids love to read and learn, whether they know it yet or not. The trick is to just find that ONE book that gets them hooked, and with your donations we've been able to hook a lot of students in. Our new sets which include, Pete the Cat, Elephant and Piggie, Goosebumps, Plants vs. Zombies and the Olympians graphic novels, have been a huge hit. We have students begging to check out more than 4 books at a time, and plenty more who are asking for slips to check books out now. Our story and phonic books are also helping to engage our early readers as I read to them, or they begin to take their first steps reading on their own.
Reading in the library is becoming more enjoyable each week for the students and it's a thrill to hear them ask whether or not they'll be coming in today. It really is the place to be, and is changing the reading culture around the school. =)
Story time - One student, a third grade boy, used to come in every class and just walk around and complain there are no good books to read. He'd get a book, read a page or two then set it back. After doing this 2 or 3 times the class would be over and his mission of not reading would be complete. That was the norm....until we got Plants vs. Zombies. Now he comes in, I hand him the book he asked me to save for him, and he comfortably reads without any issues. He found that one book, and now reading is fun!”
