  • Fresh Veggies Can Start at School

    Funded Mar 1, 2023

Thanks for helping me fund this project in 3 short days. I told students about the project a couple of weeks ago to gauge interest. Today one of my students asked when the gardening project will start and I told her soon. I can't wait to tell her and my other students that the project has been funded. I am thrilled to share my joy and excitement of growing my own food with the kids at my school. Thanks so much for helping, I'll keep you posted.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Neamen

  • Jamming on Homework

    Funded Sep 17, 2019

Beyond thanks to all of my donors. I can’t wait to offer students the option to listen to a personal radio while they work. I am already making the handout for radio stations in our area. I can’t wait to post pictures of students and share their feedback.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Neamen

This classroom project was brought to life by Niantic and 5 other donors.
During my Math Empowerment class students work at three different stations daily. The stations are working with the teacher, playing a game on the computer or a classroom helper and independent practice or homework station. At the independent practice station I would love to give students the option to listen to music of their choice but letting them use their phone is too distracting. When my students are listening to music some are more focused on the work and less distracted by their environment; when they choose the music they are even more motivated. The use of small personal radios will allow students choose without the distractions of a smart phone. Getting this individual practice in class will help them learn to work on the math themselves and persevere instead of quitting.
