  • Let's Create More Hands-on Learning!

    Funded Mar 1, 2020

Thank you so much for your contributions to students achievement. My students have limited access to these resources in school. All of the materials will help to provide activities that reinforce and teach literacy, Science, and Social Studies concepts in a concrete way. These tools will help them access the curriculum. I'm looking forward to the great work they'll be doing through the end of the year :).”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Samuels

  • High Interest Books for Struggling Readers!

    Funded Oct 22, 2019

The graphic novels and time magazines were added to our classroom library and have been signed out frequently. Students have been able to keep time magazines for leisure reading at home. In addition to our original order, we were able to purchase bananagrams, a word tile game, privacy folders, and reading passages for a wide range of upper elementary and middle school readers.

Students were really excited and appreciated all the materials received. The graphic novels were a hit and have been signed out of the class library each week. We've also been able to incorporate Time Magazine articles to our study about technology and its impact on our lives. We'll be visiting the Apple Store soon as an added experience.

We truly appreciate your contributions and wouldn't have access to these resources without you. Our next project will include materials to create hands on activities for students. The more students can engage in multi sensory approaches, the more they'll retain what they've learned. Looking forward to your continued support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Samuels

Based on the reading interest survey completed at the beginning of the year, graphic novels are of high interest in my class. The classroom library is a place where students should go to find books they are passionate about. My classroom is a print rich environment and graphic novels and magazines will only make it more meaningful for my students. Students are able to check out books biweekly- depending on their need. They keep our classroom materials and library books in good condition to ensure our materials will last for years to come. With the new books, my students will have access to age appropriate text with strong picture support. This will allow them to continue practicing foundational skills on high leveled text. Increased motivation has shown to increase reading stamina. With these books, my students will grow as readers!
