Understanding as an educator that students learn from modeling the task that is required per the Common Core standards. To hand them a handout and not be able to successfully demonstrate the Gradual Release Model (Scaffolding of Instruction) would be difficult without a document camera. The laptop frees the teacher to move around the room not being tied to a desktop to document student engagement and formative assessments. Students are also able to utilize this form of technology by utilizing the document camera to show their work on the document when the small whiteboard space provided is being used for other subjects.
