Read at Home
Funded Dec 11, 2020I would like to express how thankful I am for your donations, thank you. My students are so excited to read these books together and with their family. Thanks to your donations my students have the privilege of taking these books home during these difficult times. I am happy that they are able to have these three books that we will use through the rest of our school year.
In class virtually, students will have the opportunity to read aloud together with their own book. This will make it easier for my students to see the words and read at their own pace and analyze the essential questions.
As a teacher I will have the opportunity to ask students to read and collaborate among their peers when it comes to book discussions virtually. Currently, my students are in third grade and they have connected to the book, Third Grade Angels. Towards the end of the year we will be reading the sequel book, Fourth Grade Rats, and I am impressed with their excited in knowing that they will each be getting their own copy to read at home. Thank you, and hope you continue to support other teachers and students through Donors Choose.”

Virtual Learning Ready, With Lights!
Funded Sep 16, 2020Thank you for the light and the camera in my classroom. The first day I used them in our virtual classroom my students were all, "Woa!! Ms. Rosas it looks so clear." They were all very excited. Everything that I was teaching them my students had no problem viewing. I am so grateful because the materials have made a great impact as I am currently teaching virtually.
My students noticed the difference when I wrote on a white board, used manipulative, showed them a poster with the lights. The lights and camera made a big difference in their learning. They were able to see the numbers clearly and see my positive expressions towards them.
Students have been receiving great video and image through out their experience virtually and this is all thanks to you. Thank you!!”

Funded Sep 16, 2020Thank you for your donations to this project. With your support we were able to transition into various concepts virtually. With the standing desk, as a class we were able to move from a specific topic to another virtually.
While learning math I was able to teach the multiplications using the chart and then transition into reviewing vocabulary words. Through virtual instruction our concepts move a lot quicker and thanks to your support students are able to transition with me with the use of the standing desk. In addition, students have had the opportunity to learn more skills in the limited amount that we have virtually.
To add, with the use of the mat I have been able to cover concepts of mindfulness such as breathing deeply, relaxing, and stretching. In addition, we have had the opportunity to cover indoor physical education and outdoor science exploration with the mat and jar. Thank you!!!”

Funded Oct 23, 2020Thank you for all of your support towards our project. I had the opportunity to share the materials with my students. Many of my students were very excited to hear that they will have the opportunity to use the chair and seats for our reading station when they come back to the classroom. These will empower them to collaborate with their peers on their reading
I am excited to use these with the classroom as we begin reading stations. We are currently doing this virtually and students are receiving that one on one support with me while they read independently or have group reading discussions. Thank you!”

Funded Oct 8, 2020Thank you for all of your support in funding this project. It arrived before our Presidential Election and my class had the opportunity to learn about our government and the importance of voting. This project provided my students with multiple opportunities to be introduced to our government.
We have read some of the books through our virtual classroom. After, we were able to have very deep conversations about citizen rights, voting rights, and more. I had a particular student who became very interested in the history of our presidents. He even went off on his own and continued to learn more about the US president. Also, a couple of my students were very amazed to learn about the history of women rights. As we continued using the materials a particular student stated that his goal is to become a President of the United States.
My future steps will be to move forward and use the materials so my students can be introduced to landforms and more. I am hoping when we go back my students can continue to review and learn about government. Thank you!!”

Funded Sep 25, 2020Thank you for your support in funding this project for my students. My students learned about the importance of reading everyday. They had the opportunity to walk by school and pick up their book, "Because of Winn Dixie." They were so excited to take this book home and read.
We started reading the book together through our virtual classroom. Students had the opportunity to read aloud. Together we have started to analyze characters in the story. Now they have been given the task to read to a family member aloud and create a character analysis.
With your support, families will have the opportunity to also interact with their students on the reading from home. I have one particular student who stated in class that this was his favorite book. I am excited to continue using this book as we move forward with more reading skills. Thank you!!!”

Learning by Playing
Funded Oct 16, 2020My class and I are so thankful for helping us fund our project. Through out distance learning you made it possible for my students to learn by playing from home. Students passed by school picking up a baggy with all of these supplies. With your help they each had the opportunity to have these supplies such as the Bingo Multiplication game, Play Doh and more to use at home.
From the moment they pick up their materials they were so excited to take them home. My students have used these supplies to memorize their multiplications. We have also used it to play as a class virtually and review the times tables. With your donations you helped our class come closer together through learning and having fun virtually.
I am amazed of how much progress students have made in math. We will continue using the Play Doh as we move closer to our shapes units. Currently, students have used it to complete STEAM challenges virtually. Thank you!!!”

Funded Oct 23, 2019Thank you so much for the donations you provided to my class. My students have had tremendous growth in knowledge about weather and natural disasters. They will continue their investigation and inventions as we move forward in this month. This donation really allowed my students to engage 100% in the class.
My students were most excited about the natural disaster books. They were very impressed by the facts and new information they read. One student specifically asked the class about tornadoes and was so engaged as she read the book that by the end she wanted to share everything she learned with the class. Another one of my students learned to search up information about natural disasters in the tablet. He is a student who has difficulty writing and the tablet allowed him to use the text to speech icon as he began his research.
In a couple of days my students will be introduced to the motors and they will begin creating their own inventions. So far we did a class invention with the materials were students created their own parachutes . Students had smiles in their faces as they launched their creations. They all had to use their creativity and research to develop it. I am definitely looking forward to using the materials every year to teach students about natural disasters, weather, and survival.
Your donations have allowed all my students to learn, be engaged, and have fun while learning science. Thank you so much!”
