Let's Get Hatching!
Funded Jul 29, 2024Thank you so much for your incredible donation. Every year my students look forward to hatching chicks in our classroom and this year will just be that much more exciting using our own equipment! My former students have already been stopping in and asking if we'll be hatching chicks again this year. The project made such an impact on them, they are excited for the next group of kids to experience the fun and learning.
When the students saw the materials, they were just gobsmacked. One student immediately told me that her family has ducks and could she "bring in some eggs tomorrow?" Allowing the students to study each of the items was lovely to observe, noting their inquiry and curiosity. Right away they wanted to know about each item and how we would utilize them. This really is an all encompassing project for us with Science, Reading, Writing, and Spoken Language (presentation) standards all wrapped up together. A truly project based experience.
Thank you again, so very much. This is a gift that will truly give students an incredible experience year after year.”

Ukuleles! Music For All Learners.
Funded Dec 10, 2019You have brought such joy! The students here have had quite the surprise. I didn't let them know about the gift until I walked in the door with them. The joy and excitement on their faces was unbelievable! They are so striking in Cardinal Red!
We have affixed hooks to the wall of the classroom so whenever the students are feeling the need to express themselves with music, they can just walk over and play.
During our first experience with the ukuleles students received a lesson on how to hold the ukuleles and learned about ukulele anatomy. I also placed vinyl stickers on the fret boards that are color coded. By just placing their fingers on the red sticker they are strumming a C chord. This way the ukuleles are ready to play no matter what your experience.
There are three Para-professional Aides in the classroom at all times. Your donation has allowed us to have enough Ukuleles for the students and for the adults in the room to model. Learning an instrument is intimidating. The stickers allow the adults in the room to feel comfortable learning alongside the students and then help me to teach also.
We are so blessed by your donation. Thank you so much for allowing my students the opportunity to express themselves musically.”
