De-escalate and Regulate
Funded Dec 5, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donations. My students and I are thrilled to use all the great materials you have purchased. Thank you for providing me the opportunity to continue teaching social emotional skills and motivate those in need.
Since receiving our materials we have read so many wonderful books with real life applications. These lessons have sparked great conversations and we get to practice these skills daily. I wish you could see the growth they are making.
I could not have done this without you. We are so grateful!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Clanton

Funded Sep 29, 2019You have no idea how much you've helped me and my students. I recently moved to Charlotte, NC from Seattle, WA and had to leave all my socio-emotional learning tools and books behind because I did not have any room to take them with me. At my previous schools we were given a budget to buy the things we needed. My new school does not have excessive funds like the previous schools. I literally had to start over from scratch, which is hefty amount to spend for new teachers and behavior specialists.
Students come to me for both major and minor incidents that occur at school. Most are teary-eyed, hysterical, shut down, or angry. With the items you've helped me purchase, we can work through our problems using sensory tools such as kinetic sand, breathing balls, bean bag chairs, stress balls, putty, a scented diffuser and music. When my students have made their weekly goals, we get to celebrate and I reward them with special one-to-one time or with fun knickknacks and trinkets you have also helped provide. They are always so thankful and I constantly remind them that I would not be able to provide those things without the generous help of you all!
I use each and every single item purchased daily. Your donations have helped both students and our new and developing teachers. I let teachers borrow my books that focus on developing interpersonal and social skills within children. These books help teach students lessons through characters they can identify with. My favorite book to use with the students is "The Worst Day of My Life Ever". It helps students realize how their all actions and behaviors have consequences. We can read this book together and figure out what the character in the book did wrong and how he could have changed it around. We then apply that message to our own lives and reflect on our choices and what resulted from them. It's amazing to see that "Ah-ha" moment in students who have made the connections. I will continue to use use these resources as well as let other borrow them to further develop our young scholars.
My day consists of a lot of negativity due to the nature of my job. Despite the rough day we face together, I love my students and this job so much! My purpose in life is to teach kids resiliency and that they are stronger than their worst days. I want to provide the best possible services to them and help them become great citizens. I could have NEVER been able to do this without your support! I am so grateful to you and how you are helping my students, my co-workers and myself in our community. So, THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Clanton
