From gauging endothermic and exothermic reactions, regulating the temperature in a lab setting, or doing any experiment that require ice, having plenty of ice on hand is a necessity in any laboratory science. There is always a demand for ice at any time for Physical Science, Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry or Physics with a campus serving 1400 students and 10 different science teachers. An example of a need would include one of our beginning investigations into homeostasis and the respiration rate of a goldfish. Students were able to see how Poikiotherms adapt to temperature change and how it affected their respiration (homeostasis). With 4 different biology teachers doing the experiment around the same time, an ice machine would be a welcome addition to our campus.
