I am very excited to have the opportunity to promote student engagement, creativity and language skills with my students through the use of these learning games and activities. Based on several research studies, children living in poverty hear approximately 30 million less words by the age of 4 than children living in middle to upper class homes. I would like to do my best to help close the vocabulary and achievement gap with my students through the use of these specifically chosen learning games. All the games I have chosen help students build and expand their vocabulary, promote higher level thinking skills, develop word building and spelling skills, and improve their speaking and listening abilities. Through the use of these learning games, my students will be actively engaged in the learning process, they will be exposed to rich vocabulary, and they will learn to build positive relationships with their peers and teachers while engaging in respectful learning conversations. I also create many of my own learning centers and games and have requested storage tubs to organize these centers for my students. Thank you for helping to improve the lives of my students!
