  • Living, Loving, and Learning with Children's Literature!

    Funded May 17, 2024

Thank you so much for funding my project! I can’t wait to share these titles with my students. I’m sure this will help to excite them with learning to read for fun. Your support of education is appreciated beyond measure and we couldn’t do what we do with out YOU! Thanks again!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Coffey

  • Engaged Learning

    Funded Dec 28, 2021

I want to start off by thanking you so much for providing new reading materials and skill practice games for my students. The kids could hardly wait for me to open the boxes and get things labeled so they could start reading. Having lower leveled readers to add in my library was awesome for my low readers because I had limited books that were at their instructional level. I could see how proud they were finally being able to join their peers in Sustained Silent Reading time and actually be reading.

In my classroom, we have time where the kids can read independently while I pull small groups to work on certain skill sets. The phonics games that were purchased added a fun twist to the small group setting while the other kids were enjoying the new books added to the library. The favorite choices were Elephant and Piggie and the My Weirder School Series. I plan to read a Judy Moody book as a read aloud to get them interested in that series as well.

Your generosity made a big impact in my classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Coffey

  • Learning In A Student-Centered Classoom

    Funded May 6, 2022

I am so honored that you chose my project to fund. I am excited to set up my classroom using these materials for this upcoming year and see my students thrive academically while learning to become life long learners through reading. Your generosity will impact so many kids each year as they pass through my door.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Coffey

  • Creating Geniuses With Osmo!

    Funded Oct 25, 2021

Learning centers that use our Osmo devices has been a great hit with the students in my classroom. The students are able to focus on specific skills such as spelling, math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), spatial awareness, and reading through creative games that are engaging and learning specific. My students are able to use the Osmo during center time as remediation and for fast finishers to give them extra practice.

The students were very intrigued when the boxes came and even more so when they saw "OSMO" on the boxes. When I got the Fire tablets set up to use, I chose a few students to start playing the games so they could become 'experts' once we started using them in centers.

Moving forward, seeing the enthusiasm the kids have for this particular center rotation, I will be looking into purchasing more sets to expand small center learning even more. The problem solving through games keeps kids motivated and excited about their learning.

Our entire class is sending out a huge THANK YOU for your part in helping us expand our learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Coffey

I am requesting Kindle Fire devices and the OSMO learning systems to enhance reading and math standards RF3.3, RF3.4, L3.2, 3.NBT.A.2, and SMP#1. OSMO has a digital and physical component that teaches kids not only on an academic level but on a social and creative level as well. OSMO is curriculum-driven so it will support standards and concepts being taught in the classroom. The starter kit I'm requesting includes games that support phonics, spelling, vocabulary, number sense, addition, subtraction, and more. There is also a physics game that allows kids to solve problems using different lines and images. The games focus on ages 6-10, which will benefit students of all academic levels in my 3rd-grade classroom.
