We have created a classroom for all 400 children in our school, preschool to 5th grade, to come explore and discover the wonders of science. They learn how math, engineering and technology weave together with science to help explain the world around them. We call this classroom the Engineering Discovery Lab. It is our goal to make an inspiring introduction to the STEM world and the life sciences. The materials requested will enable children to specifically investigate life. Through inquiry, they will recognize the needs of plants and animals and the fragility that exists. Using the microscope, the children will have the opportunity to question and investigate. They will explore the needs of plants with the indoor plant garden and observe birds and address their needs with the large aviary. Our goal is to put the habitat in a location that will allow all children to observe and ask good questions about the birds. With the materials requested, children can experience the exciting, intriguing and welcoming atmosphere that STEM and the Engineering Discovery Lab offer.
