Reading is very important for all students. As the school librarian, I am constantly trying to motivate my students to read. One of the library standards is reading off the state list. My project is to have students read books off the state list. Then these students will Skype with another school to discuss these books. My students are so excited about reading! Students enjoy reading the same book and discussing what they have read. My students are excited to read books off the state list, but they need extra copies of the same title. Having more copies available to my students allows more students a chance to read these books. I plan to donate the books used for my contest to go into the classroom library after the contest. Students will enjoy these books for years to come.
