  • Iced, Frozen, or Star Tip?

    Funded Jun 28, 2020

Your donations have allowed the students within our in-school worksite to create a real life cafe for our community. We were able to be consistent on a daily basis to provide baked treats such as a wide variety of cupcakes, cookies, coffee- both hot and iced, fresh juices and the list continues. In addition to being provided with added resources to bake with, we received materials that allowed us to learn, practice, and get comfortable with decorating cupcakes.

My students and classroom staff were elated by the out pour of support given to them by various donors and excited to get in the kitchen. There's many treats left to try our hands at and we can't wait to keep getting better and serving our community through our worksite Cafe!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Knight-Meade

  • Banana Bread or Cupcake?

    Funded Dec 6, 2019

Your donation has allowed my students to package their baked goods in a sanitary and delightful manner. Their presentation at each bake sale has been better and better which has been drawing in a bigger crowd at each event. We also have been able to expand our menu to offer carrot cake in the form of a mini personal sized loaf as well as in an iced cupcake form. Having an array of packaging options saves us the worry of figuring out how to appeal to the staff and students that prefer to save our goodies for their lived ones at home. We are getting bigger and better all thanks to your continuous help, support, and donations!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Knight-Meade

  • Will That Be With Cherries or Sprinkles on Top?

    Funded Nov 3, 2019

With your generous contributions we have been able to recreate recipes and break them down in a way that is understandable for each learning type. We have also been able to look up and create grocery lists based on the weekly circular and seamlessly travel to the supermarket with our student created list for our ingredients needed. We have been able to watch videos of different techniques to bake a delightful chocolate cake and since then expand our horizons with baking and trying new recipes with the occasional trial and error. Our iPads have made it easier to communicate with one another and has aided in a variety of visual cues and reconstructing worded recipes to picture recipes allowing everyone to understand and participate in the day's baking activity. We are very happy to have these devices as a part of our classroom and can not wait to see what other opportunities are possible with various apps and softwares.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Knight-Meade

We currently have no technology in our Cafe that we are currently rebuilding from the ground up. With these iPads, it will just be the beginning of our menu researching, recipe recreations, research, and access to different software's for order taking, making, and pushing. We will be able to cater to the needs of various learning styles based on the endless options and apps/software will come with the iPads. We will also be able to have kitchen like simulators the students can begin to get a feel for when we being working in the actual kitchen. The iPads will provide exposure for the parts of a kitchen and create a sort of a norm so we can begin to create a familiar feelings for the real deal.
