Working Towards Future Success!
Funded Sep 9, 2020I would like to thank all the donors that contributed to my project. The students have completed some of resources I have purchased with your generous donations.
After Reading the book Alexander Use to be Rich Last Sunday. We reviewed what he spent his money on. The questions of how many was spent on each item Alexander bought helped us to remember the value and name of each coin. We had to add coin combinations together to come to the price spent on a particular item. After figuring out how much was spent on each individual item we need to find out if Alexander truly spent all of his money, which he did and if all our calculations are correct each student was able to check to see if they did the math correctly. If not they could go back over the story again to see what mistake was made and how to correct it.
The next story we worked on was A Chair For My Mother. With this activity each student was able to choose what chair they wanted to purchase and then they had to determine the cost of the chair using the chart provided. After determining cost they use dice to see how much they could earn each week then they needed to keep a running total of how much money they earned. The students needed to determine if they had enough money to pay for the chair or if they earned enough already. After they thought that they earned enough the had to figure out how much money was left after purchasing the chair.
They loved the fun way they used to earn mon and this activity also brought in a shopping aspect and showed them the range of how much different chairs cost.
I just want to Thank all the donors once again for your generosity. Without your donation these activities to reinforce these concepts would not have been possible. Thank you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Caywood
