STEM Building Materials
Funded Dec 7, 2023I want to express my sincere gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom! I am a science specialist who teaches engineering to students in kindergarten through fifth grade. My students come to my class for 9 weeks throughout the school year, and I love being able to provide hands-on experiences for them to design, build, and test their ideas.
Your donations of building materials and toys have made learning so much fun in my classroom! Students in all grades now have a variety of new materials to use as they build and create in collaboration with their teams or as individuals. The youngest learners love to play and build in the sand the most, and my older students enjoy the challenge of using the smaller, more intricate materials, especially the Legos.
Teaching STEM is a passion of mine. Thank you for helping to make engineering and building accessible for all learners at my school!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Giambelluca
This classroom project was brought to life by 3M.STEM Sensory Tools for Young Engineers
Funded Jul 18, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donation! I have started to use the STEM sensory materials with my kindergarten through second grade engineering students. I teach four classes in each of those grades throughout the school year (about 300 students).
My students are especially enjoying using the water construction materials in the new water and sand tables. They are working collaboratively to build, test, and rebuild their designs to create expansive structures to transport water. Other favorite materials include the foam blocks and animals, which they sort by characteristics. They also use them for imaginative play.
As the year continues, I will introduce more of the tools, including the sand and water beads to continue to challenge my students to build creatively, test their designs, and make changes to improve their effectiveness. Your generous donation is helping my youngest students to explore the engineering design process in new and exciting ways.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Giambelluca
