I have 21 4-year-old students. The materials I am requesting will allow them to stay engaged and learning independently while I focus on small groups for direct instruction. In my classroom, we work in three small groups, rotating through teacher directed instruction, independent learning with hands-on materials like what I am requesting, and independent practice of skills. My little biliterate learners need exciting materials that can be used in a variety of ways. The blocks, tangrams, pattern blocks, and wooden building blocks are ideal. The alphabet tubs are full of small “toys” that begin with the letter sound we are focusing on. It’s also a way to learn new vocabulary. They love these tubs! The alphabet books are a great way to reinforce letter names and sounds.
