Journey Through Ancient Times
Funded May 15, 2024What a year it was for these 6th graders! This end of year project really showcased their best work as we were able to open this project up to display to the whole school! The kids were so proud of their work and truly put their hard work into every aspect of the project. It was such a hit that we even turned it into a competition for best project in each class! The pictures represent the top 3 winners in each class. To watch these students brim with confidence and show so much enthusiasm, excitement and pride in their work was priceless. This project was the talk of the town! Thank you for supporting this annual project ! I hope you consider donating again this year! Your donation really made an impact on these kids and a positive memory and experience in school.”

That's Greek to Me!
Funded Apr 23, 2023This project was a huge success and "the talk of the town!" When we introduced the project and the variety of materials they would have access too, the students were so excited and started brainstorming immediately. There were several stand out projects that really floored us. One student, Jayden created a clay colosseum complete with small figurines. Another student, Carson created a life size shield that you could actually wear on your arm using construction paper. There were several soldiers covered in armor that was made and shaped with clay.
Students were able to create a variety of ancient artifacts using clay, paint, construction paper, poster boards, felt and much more! One of the fun additions to the project is that students were able to vote for their favorite project and we gave out awards. Other classes came to view our pop up museum and got to vote and provide feedback. We can't wait to continue this type of project next year!”

Keeping Creative Kids Creating!
Funded Nov 2, 2022Our Ancient Egypt Artifact pop-up museum was a blast from the past! Students chose an ancient Egyptian artifact to recreate and wrote a summary about what it is and it's importance to ancient Egyptian culture. We set up the classroom with 5 stations based on their topic and students and staff were able to walk around to each station to examine and evaluate each project. We even had a contest for top 3 best projects that students and staff were able to vote on. What's amazing about this project was the students ability to be so creative because of the amount of resources we were able to provide to them because of the Donors Choose donations. Students had access to clay, paint, paint brushes, clay tools, construction paper, cardboard, markers, crayons, craft supplies and so much more. Many of my students are from low income families and with the cost of goods at an all time high, we were able to ease their pocketbooks and allow students to focus on creating their best project. In addition, most of the students have never done a project before because of Covid, they were in 3rd grade before going remote. To see their faces light up the day we had the pop-up museum and be so excited and proud of their work and complimenting others, is definitely one of my greatest days in my 17 year teaching career. To top it off, the deputy superintendent paid a visit and was so impressed with their projects that she is going to install a trophy case to showcase some of their projects. Thank you for your generous support! The students are so excited to do this again! Be sure to check out the pictures!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Panda Cares and 5 other donors.Culturally Inclusive Classroom
Funded Aug 23, 2022Thank you again for supporting our classroom! We have done a few projects so far this year and our culture project was a huge success! Our principal came by to see all the great work and the diverse countries our students represent! This was such a hit that we are going to do a culture day in February! This activity also helped students find out more about each other and find things about their culture that are similar. Students feel welcome and respected. As we study each unit we are able to make connections to their culture and where they are from. Up next is Egypt and we have several students from there who are excited to learn more about where their families come from”

Ancient "Text Messages"
Funded Jul 1, 2022We can't thank you enough for your contribution to our ancient text messages project. Our students were so excited and really enjoyed working with the tools and clay to create their own clay tablet. They wrote their names in cuneiform, the first written language. They took their projects home today and couldn't wait to show it off to their family. We took many pictures of the students in action and posted them in the room and on their Google classroom page so their families can see. We can't wait to do our next project. Thank you for making this a huge success and something they will remember for years to come!”
