Technology seems to be more prevalent in our ever changing, technologically advancing world these days. Many students of this generation have access to a plethora of devices at home, yet at school lack of technology and sharing must occur since there is not enough for 1:1 use, hindering students' ability to collaborate, publish their written pieces, and complete activities. I remember the first time I used a computer and the foreign feeling of trying to type as I searched for the correct letters, remembering the "shift" key for capitalizing. As we journeyed through third grade and begin our fourth grade adventure this year, my students have become more familiar with the keys and the more they practice using this technology, the more comfortable they will become.
By donating to our project, you will be ensuring that my students will have a 1:1 technology classroom where they will have access to programs we use daily. In my classroom we use Google Docs where students plan, create, edit, and revise their writings, helping my students feel like authors and editors of their writing. During writing, there's always a scramble to find enough Chromebooks for all students to use so that they can all be working at the same time. Also, in this day and age where standardized tests that are shifting their focus from paper and pencil to online exams, students with access to daily technology have a familiarity and comfort advantage to using technology with this presentation of academia over their peers who do not have access to technology. Please help give my students an advantage in this technology steeped world.
