I teach 6th and 7th grade students Academic Intervention and Social Emotional Learning in a Title 1 school within a diverse township. The demographics vary from upper middle class to struggling families on public assistance. Many of my students are struggling readers and writers with negative school-related feelings and poor social emotional skills. It is my desire to create a classroom that offers a safe space for them to obtain the remediation needed while fostering a sense of community and excitement for learning.
