  • Fabulous Fidgets and Sensory Stuff

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

Thank you so much for making this project a reality! I've been wanting to make this happen for a while, and now my room can become a more inclusive and welcoming space for students regardless of their needs. Such a small gesture from you will make a great difference to my students!”

    With gratitude,

  • Set Up for Success

    Funded Jun 26, 2022

Thank you very much for your support. While folders, tape, and sticky notes may not make for the most exciting or glamorous project, they are the kinds of items that ultimately keep students and schools running from day to day. Thanks to your help, my students will be ready to jump into the 2022-2023 school year with everything they need.”

  • Teaching With Tech

    Funded Sep 24, 2021

I cannot express the impact that having access to an iPad in my room has already had for my students. There are some specific apps that I would not otherwise be able to access that have been hugely influential to my students' progress. Even something as simple as being able to play a game in the browser on the touch screen, rather than on a Chromebook, has helped some of my students increase their engagement and participation. I have also just received a license for a robust alternative/augmentative communication app, which I am hopeful will help some of my more complex communicators become more independent. Thank you for making this happen!”

  • Visualize This!

    Funded Sep 24, 2021

Thank you for making this project happen! While continued pandemic protocols have put the tongue depressors on the shelf for the time being, the rest of the materials have been incredibly helpful. The mouth model has become a centerpiece of my room, with students asking to see it, feel it, name it, and even brush its teeth! It serves as a great way to both teach speech anatomy and demonstrate how to make different sounds. I was also able to use the TpT gift card to purchase core language boards, sentence strips, cards and posters with visuals for speech sound production, visual schedules, and vocabulary posters. These supports have enabled me to provide even more individualized support to each student I see. This couldn't have happened without your generous donation!”

  • Classroom Materials for All

    Funded Aug 6, 2021

Thank you for making this project happen! As unusual as shoe racks and 40 pencil boxes may seem, they have created the perfect way to organize each of my students' individual materials to promote both healthy habits and independence. My students know that when they walk into my room, they get their pencil box off the rack and their folder from the storage bins. Boxes and folders are even color-coded by grade to help guide students who would be overwhelmed by seeing so many names on the shelf! Your support in giving my students individual materials kits has been immeasurably helpful in keeping my room running smoothly and safely this year, so thank you again for helping that become a reality.”

  • Awesome Assessments

    Funded Jul 18, 2021

Thank you again for enabling this project to happen. Appropriate assessment is crucial to determine what a student needs to be the most successful in their classroom. Having the TILLS and CAPS has enabled me to assess student abilities in areas I could not formally evaluate before, including language-based literacy skills and social communication skills in dynamic situations. This, in turn, allows me to hone in on a student's specific needs in those areas and develop an appropriate plan in conjunction with the student's team of teachers and professionals. Learning to administer new assessments always has a learning curve, but it is undoubtedly worth the effort. I am so appreciative of your support in making this happen.”

  • Show Me Your Smile

    Funded Mar 23, 2021

Your support of this project helped my students continue to be successful as we transitioned back to in-person learning. They loved having their "window masks," as we called them, which allowed everyone in the group to see each others' mouths. They often asked me to put mine on before I even got to my seat! These were essential for the teaching and assessment of skills like sound production, emotions, and even grammar. It also gave many students the opportunity for agency and self-reflection, as they could decide which mask was better for a given activity or which was more comfortable for them from one day to the next. As an added bonus, when my school had "Crazy Mask Day," my students got a kick out of me drawing a moustache on mine with a dry erase marker. Thanks to your generosity in helping to fund this project, my students were able to have many more moments of fun, learning, and growth.”

  • 2 Screens 4 Success

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

We have just wrapped up this very unique school year, and I can confidently say that having a second monitor and webcam was crucial to my students' success this year. The webcam enabled me to see my remote students through the end of the year even as I changed rooms within the school, and the built-in microphone meant I didn't need to manage extra equipment. Meanwhile, the monitor was essential for both me and my students. For my remote students, it allowed me to have their video on one screen and the materials we were using on another, so I could see both simultaneously. For my in-person students and mixed groups, it allowed everyone to see the materials together, even while social distancing. I even made a point to change my background with a different Bitmoji scene of myself based on the theme of the week, which my students loved! All of this would not have been possible without your generosity, and this will enable greater technology use with my students for years to come”

  • Home Practice Power-Up

    Funded Nov 5, 2020

Thank you for making this project happen. These materials have been put to several different purposes. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards have been used to purchase several large resource bundles that have been used both for instruction through the computer and for physical home practice packets, and the variety of materials has allowed me to customize packets for each student as they progress through their individual goals. The dice and containers, as well as the fidgets, will become part of the students' kits when they return to in-person learning, and free dice are useful for home practice as well. Now is a time to be creative with materials and flexible thinking, and your support of this project has helped my students and me to do just that!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Baron

  • Practice Makes Perfect While We're Home

    Funded Apr 12, 2020

Few things have gone as planned over the past year. Many of the materials for this project have ultimately been re-purposed to add to pre-existing home-practice sets or to prepare for students' eventual return to in-person learning. Regardless, these materials are incredibly important to my students' ability to access activities and make progress whether at home or in school, and I am extremely appreciative of your contributions to make that happen. I don't know what will happen in the coming months, but I know that my students will be better prepared for whatever it is!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Baron

One of the best ways to support language development in children is by sharing books with them. Many of my students work on sequencing stories and retelling them in their own words, and books such as the There Was an Old Lady series help them develop that skill. My older students who are working on understanding multiple-meaning words and figures of speech will have a lot to work with in the Amelia Bedelia books! For my students who are working on constructing simple sentences, either using speech or communication devices, repetitive books like Brown Bear, Brown Bear allow them many opportunities to hear and make different types of sentences.
