I am confident that purchasing these texts will help my students become invested in a huge part of school, reading. In every subject that I teach, we are reading something. I sometimes have students become frustrated and act out because they are still unable to read. Sometimes, when given the chance to practice reading, they opt to check out simply because they're not interested in the main character, or their problems. If I can show my students that they can be represented in the crazy adventures that we read about, they can develop a stronger sense of intrinsic motivation to learn. Having a rug will allow my students a place to sit and read.
