My students are eager to learn. They unfortunately are lacking in high quality resources. When they have to write, the pencils are broken before they are used because of poor quality materials. Markers dry out or explode on to the white boards all the time. My students deserve to have good quality materials to complete their tasks and to be successful learners.
The school where I teach is also the school I attended. It is a public school in a low socioeconomic area and the school population is 98% Hispanic. Most are second language learners. The majority of my students receive free lunch and many are being raised by grandparents or other family members.
Many will be the first in their family to graduate from high school. They are bright and excited about learning. I know that they can be successful with the right resources.
