Our classroom currently has many older toys that are worn out and have missing pieces. We are lacking in material that encourage hands on learning and creative thinking. Having a class of students with developmental delays and disabilities, means that hands on learning is vital in order for them to learn, develop and grow. Having a variety of materials is important to help broaden their interests and keep learning fun! I plan to use these materials to facilitate language development, acquisition of early concepts and early problem solving skills. As well as use for themed units of study. Building materials also provide many opportunities for children to learn to work together, in order to build cooperative play skills and encourage social skills among peers.
