  • Diversify Reading

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

Thank you! This project supported students capacity to read books of their choice which facilitated greater originality of their Theses, moving forward. As students had the opportunity to read the books they chose and sometimes in their home language they grew in their confidence and ability to select and apply evidence and generate original ideas about text.

Students in this 10th grade course went on to read more demanding texts in their 11th grade year when they completed their PBATs; and sometimes referred to their reading experience with the books your donation helped to purchase!

Thank you again, for funding the growth of young minds!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Rose

  • Classroom So Fresh and So Clean!

    Funded Oct 20, 2024

We thank you for your generosity and attention in supporting the cleanliness, organization and personalization of materials in our classroom. In connection with working everyday to be diligent in our learning we also invest great time and attention to detail in cleanliness and organization that facilitates powerful learning. This often requires our investment in cleaning up and keeping it together! Your donation contributes to this process and in this way facilitates our success both in academic action and as models of the steps we take to achieve excellence in the space where this learning happens.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Rose

These books allow my students access to a diverse group of authors writing in different styles, from different perspectives and making different interpretations of their world. By facilitating the presence of these books in the classroom you assist me in building reading independence and appreciation in our classroom and give students access to books they can grapple with in student-led book-talks for 11th grade. The diversity in writing styles and perspectives is an important element of development in student agency and capacity in making judgements about an authors approach and understanding of a situation vs. their own; lending students an opportunity to determine how engaging new and different ideas shapes their perspective; and experiencing first hand how literature influences us and mimics other forms of cultural osmosis.
