I work with 8 KIDS who have ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and 2 typical peers. They are all able, but we need a lot of supplies to keep these kids learning and busy. Children with ASD either hyper focus or lack the ability to focus for very long. Using the squish balls and Play Doh, I am seeking to help both groups complete different activities throughout the classroom. Play Doh, large tweezers, and exercise bands are great sensory activities for sensory seeking students. Large wood beads are to help fine tune, fine motor skills. One of the first things as a class that we are working on is trying to accomplish sitting through circle time and transitioning from one activity to the next. The spinning tops, board books, and ice cream maker will be a reward.
