Funding this project would allow me to send each student home each Friday with a scholastic magazine teaching them about something seasonal like Veteran's Day in September or related like animals that live in the Arctic during December. Students will also get to participate in activities related to what we read each week! For example in the Spring we learn about butterflies and identify the stages of the butterfly life cycle and in November we learn about Veteran's and what they have done for our country and write them a thank you note. These magazines also allow them to practice their early literacy skills with a monthly reader that is written at their level! They are able to grow their love of reading at a comfortable pace while learning about new topics!
