Earth Without Art Is Just Eh
Funded Apr 1, 2023I am writing this letter to express my sincere gratitude for your generous contribution towards purchasing art supplies for my classroom. Your support enabled us to provide our students with the necessary tools and materials to unleash their creativity and explore the world of art.
Thanks to your donation, our students had access to a wide range of art supplies, such as paints, brushes, markers, and paper. These resources not only enhanced their artistic skills but also fostered their imagination and self-expression. Your contribution made a lasting impact on their educational journey and inspired them during their time in the classroom.
I cannot thank you enough for your kindness and commitment to enriching the lives of our students. Your belief in the power of art education was evident through your support, and I am truly grateful for your dedication to fostering creativity in the classroom.”

Black History Month is Every Month
Funded Feb 22, 2023I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous contribution towards the purchase of books about black leaders for my classroom. Your donation has enabled us to acquire a diverse range of literature that will serve as an invaluable resource for my students to learn about the important contributions made by black leaders throughout history.
Your generosity has made a significant impact on my students, many of whom come from underprivileged backgrounds and may not have had the opportunity to learn about black leaders otherwise. With your help, we are able to provide them with access to knowledge and information that will broaden their perspectives and inspire them to become future leaders themselves.
Once again, thank you for your support and for sharing our commitment to educating the next generation about the richness and diversity of black history. Your donation has made a difference in the lives of my students and will continue to do so for many years to come.”

Funded Nov 12, 2022This project has demonstrated that reading is not simply a solitary activity. Reading occurs in a social context, which influences both a reader's choices about what to read, and their understanding about what they read.
Thanks to our generous donors the books we obtained through this project have allowed my students to have the opportunity to pick books to read and have weekly meetings to discuss what is happening in their books. Reading a book with other friends have motivated my students to not only read more but to talk and share their views and opinions. It has enriched and elevated the ideas and conversations in the classrooms.
This has been a valuable experience for all my students. Every week I witnessed the energy levels go up. My students couldn't wait to talk to each other. One group was reading a mystery novel. They had many different theories about how to solve the problems and it was exciting to get to the end of the book so we all could solve the problem.”

Funded Sep 21, 2022Thank you so much for your generous contributions. My class received two sets of books that we are going to read this year. We started reading Tiger Rising in Spanish by Kate DiCamillo. The story is masterpiece by DiCamillo. My students were incredibly engaged. They could relate and make connections with the characters. Through this beautiful story I was able to teach many different aspects of literature such as character traits, plot, author's craft, vocabulary in context and many more.
We read a chapter or two everyday and discussed, gave opinions about the story and analyzed the characters motivations and emotions. We participated in rich conversations that would not have been possible otherwise. Our story time became the favorite time of the day for many of my students.
Many of my students often requested to read beyond our typical chapter or two and even had asked me if they could take their books home to keep reading because they can't wait another day to know what happens in the story. Our next book is Holes by Louis Sachar.”

Funded Sep 8, 2022Every Friday my students enjoy 30 to 40 minutes of unstructured play in the classroom. They can choose what, how and with whom they play. It is a period my students await enthusiastically every week. During these times I have witness precious and numerous moments of laughter and joy and also team work, problem solving, high level communication and creativity.
The materials you helped me bring into my classroom have elicited valuable skills that are fundamental for the 21st century. One example is that my students worked for about 3 months to build a ferris wheel. They organized themselves and worked together to accomplish a common goal. It was a group of 5 or 6 students but some days others will join too. They built and rebuilt several parts when things did not work. They had to review the instructions manual to identify their mistakes and adjusted accordingly. In the process they used their communication skills, critical thinking, perseverance, spacial awareness and other abilities. They were very proud of themselves when they after many days and a lot of hard work, finally the Ferris Wheel was completed.
Thank you all for your generous contribution to this project. I am looking forward to seeing my students practice more STEM skills in the rest of the school year and hopefully in their future.”

Move Your Body Get Stronger And Smarter
Funded Sep 8, 2022My students could not believe their eyes when they saw all the boxes and packages we received. The classroom exploded in a series of WOWs every time we opened a new box. My students were evidently excited and eager to get out and play so I took them outside and showed them how to use and take care the equipment.
I knew they would love these materials but what surprised me is how they take care of them. They sign up to take the soccer goals, the soccer balls and other pieces and they return it after recess. They know its theirs and they use and enjoy all these materials responsibly.
My intention was to provide my students with fun and safe equipment they can use to stay active at school. I think I have accomplished more than that. These project has made students more active and also more responsible.”

Yoga for the Mind and Body
Funded Sep 8, 2022Adding these yoga mats has improved the culture of our classroom greatly. We practice mindfulness and yoga every other week for 25 to 30 minutes. We practice balance, movement and meditation. My students are showing more self-control and physical awareness with every session.
The yoga mats have made our mindfulness practice more engaging. Having a yoga mat to practice in our classroom makes the experience more special and enjoyable for my 4th graders. My students have asked me passionately to increase the number of sessions to at least once a week and I'm seriously considering it.
Since we started with the mindfulness sessions my students have shown to be more patient, focus and resilient.”

Books Are Like Friends
Funded May 5, 2022We started the year studying realistic fiction. The majority of books we received from this project are perfect for this genre. I diligently chose books that contained female and people of color as main characters and are also at the 4th grade level. I have to say that my students are "devouring" these books in my classroom. We read, talk, and recommend books everyday.
We read about 40 minutes independently every day and choose new books from our classroom library weekly. Titles like María: una niña latina en Estados Unidos and The Dyamonde Daniel Series are some of the most popular books right now. My classroom has never been so focused.
All this reading has prompted great literary conversations and has elevated the level of literary analysis in my class. I would have never been able to accomplish such love for literature in a classroom this fast without great books like the ones you helped purchased.
You immense generosity has made a great positive impact in my students already.”

Funded May 6, 2022This project was a complete success. We learned how to compost and recycle at school and the environmental implications of doing it correctly. We learned about the importance of keeping our planet clean. My students got so excited that they started doing it on their own and now they are teaching students in other classes how to compost and recycle correctly.
We use the trash pickers and recycling bins to separate our thrash at school everyday. My students take weekly turns be the "green patrol" at lunch. They love it. It's fun, they know they are doing something important for the environment and because composting has led us to the garden, now they are connecting science ideas to the real observable world.
Thank you for helping me bring this learning opportunity to my students.”

Learning In The Garden
Funded Jun 14, 2022This is one of my favorite projects yet. My students learned how to compost and recycle at school last school year. I got the same group this year. Now my students are composting and recycling their own school lunch scraps. Also, they are teaching the other classes which are interested in our project.
Additionally, we're taking the food scraps to the garden to be added to the compost bins we own. We work in the garden once or twice a week and it is a fun outdoor learning time. We cleaned the school garden last year so we are ready to grow some plants and vegetables. It is definitely an amazing science opportunity for my students and they are loving it.
Thank you all for helping me make this happened.”
