My classroom is full of 23 energetic and eager fourth graders. My students have a love for reading, but due to the size of my class and the different reading levels of the students, they are running out of "just right" books fast! With this grant, we will be able to add new texts to our classroom library. These books will be read each day during our independent reading station and will be used as an early finisher task. Student will have the ability to choose their own books that peak their interest.
By having books that are of interest, engagement will stay high and reading levels will soar! Our class is blessed with 1:1 Chromebooks and we have been using those to assist in reading. To assist with engagement, we utilize apps such as Flip Grid and NearPod to share information about the books that we read and introduce them to others in our class and on our grade level. We also have flashlight Fridays where the students are able to read with mini flashlights in the dark.
All of the books requested were chosen by the students. We appreciate all of the support and can't wait to start reading!
