In my classroom, students sit in groups at tables. While this provides opportunities for collaboration and a stronger sense of community than individual desks, it does not allow for any storage of school supplies within student reach. My students keep their materials in lockers located in the hallway of our school. This means, anytime they need to get a book, notebook, or other school material, they are forced to disrupt their own learning and the learning of other students and classrooms around them. These seat pockets will allow them to stay more focused and on task throughout the school day.
