The large carpet will be placed in the front of the classroom and used as a gathering place during our mini-lessons and read alouds. This is also a place where we do some of our workstations for reading, writing, and math. My students need a carpet large enough to accommodate at least 20 students so that we can feel like a community. My students deserve to sit on a new carpet that is in excellent condition while learning math concepts, writing strategies, sharing ideas, and during whole group instruction. I currently have a small worn carpet that does not seat 20 students comfortably. Most of the time about a fifth of my students are sitting off to the side because they do not all fit. My wish is to have this project fully funded so that my students can feel like a community by sitting together on the carpet.
