My students are full of energy and smiles every day! They come to school ready to learn and excited for the day ahead. I strive to greet them daily with a smile and give them a safe space to learn and explore. Unfortunately, many of our students are struggling to get proper nutrition for the long school day. Many of our families are below the poverty line and trying to make ends meet. Students are often hungry throughout the day, wondering how much longer until it is lunch time. We have at least one snack time in the morning and try to get a snack in before they have the go home. My students often ask for seconds or if they can have some snack to take home. These little ones can only do their best when they are not distracted by an empty tummy. I want to make sure each child has enough to eat throughout the day, so they can focus more on their learning and be the best 1st graders they can be!
