Reading in any language helps students to increase their vocabulary in that language. The more words they know, the more confident they become and that results in more risk taking and more language production. By providing choices of high interest books in French, students will be able to be more engaged in learning. French novels will give students the opportunity to choose something interesting to read. The books that I have selected will appeal to a large variety of students. It is my hope that the independent reading will translate into confident, motivated learners. The books that I have chosen have varied reading levels, some with many pictures to support student comprehension. The books are on a wide variety of topics that will ensure that there is something for everyone.
