Have you ever known a student that just seemed to get in trouble everywhere? Or maybe one that was never selected for anything special because of academic challenges they face every day in every class? And there are always students that can't stay after school because they "don't have a ride". I want to start a drumming group to motivate students in these types of situations and make a difference in their lives. These children often don't have the resources at home they need to succeed in school or to participate in after school activities such as chorus or drama club. This group would meet during the school day at a time when they wouldn't miss academics or any other special activities. They would also be given special performance opportunities at our school and nearby festivals, rest homes, childcare facilities, etc. Right now, I'd like to start out with 15 students that would be referred to me by classroom teachers, guidance counselors, and administration.
