  • Technology for Students!

    Funded Nov 5, 2023

Our newly aquired technology made possible through donors choose has made a positive impact on our classroom and with our students. We have been able to take time to share the ipad we received to utilize educational apps we love so much. We are a high school classroom and our families to not donate the way I saw donations when I taught elementary school so it was nice to have a donation. Our class thanks you from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you so much!!!!

Please note, due to sensitive reasons, we will be unable to send a picture of our students along with this letter. Thank you for understanding.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kessler

  • Inspiring a Self-Contained Classroom.

    Funded Nov 1, 2021

Our class has utilized some of our supplies for our biology unit. The paints and paper allowed students to design their own, unique island incorporating the features of a map. What is great is we learned how to care for the paints, how to prepare the supplies for the task and how to clean up afterwards. The donated soil has been put in recycled water containers that the students are using for individual compost stations to observe the lesson we studied on decomposition. They were very excited to have materials provided to the class as we typically do not have such opportunities. Our next step is to take our composts out to our school garden where students will add their composts to a larger compost bin and observe as our school gardener utilizes this new soil we helped enrich with existing plants, trees and other vegetation. The wall map we received has served as a focal point in the classroom. We have used it to help us follow along with the news and current events happening around us in the world. The impact the materials we received have made a huge difference in our classroom and we are grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Kessler

The resources selected are learning materials that were not possible for students to engage in as a social group due to covid related distance learning requirements. The books selected are the current books that other general classrooms are reading and my students can follow along with teacher support in the classroom setting. Composting and planting is part of our biology unit that students did not have access to via distance learning. Additionally, arts and crafts have been selected to help develop fine motor skills. Board games and other activities will bring students together after a long break in social interactions. Students work on independent IEP goals. The materials selected relate to student goals. Vocabulary instruction, money skills, reading skills with novels and social skills including art and games.
