My job is to help students obtain, practice, and then independently use the skills needed to be a life long reader. This project will help my students along this path to independent, grade level (or above) readers. I have asked for trackers. These trackers help readers maintain their spot while reading. These are great for early readers focusing on only a sentence, and advanced readers who can easily get lost on a page of text. The chair and rug are for my readers to cozy up with their favorite book and truly enjoy the story. Who wouldn't rather curl up with a book instead of sitting on a chair at a desk? I also have asked for sticky notes and pencils. These will give my readers the resources needed to record their thinking, questions, and predictions as they move through a book.
