  • Safety in Schools

    The materials that we requested for this project all had to do with staying safe and clean in the special education classroom. Students all shared in the responsibilities of keeping the classroom clean and ready for learning. This was able to provide a routine for the students to monitor their space and ensure they had a good working environment.

    When the student saw the materials they were excited to see what was inside box. I took out the materials one by one and explained what each of the items were.”

Spanish materials are sometimes hard to find and all these items on my list will be used daily with students. The students have more fun with these types of word tiles since they don't have to worry about writing.”

  • Interactive Technology

    Thanks again for your help in completing my first project on here. Having an ipad in my classroom has helped look up pictures during lessons, which help the student to remember what were talking about. It also helps us have relaxing music sometimes. I have also started looking at additional apps that we can use in class for sight words and books and most have been free to use.

    I also ordered some math accessories that go with the Ipad and students have really loved it. They get to add, subtract and multiply with games and little plastic blocks that the Ipad camera can read. There are also games where they can work with all the basic math operations (add, subtract, multiply and divide).

    Students that have trouble reading or writing think the math games are really fun . These students they work harder to make progress to see what else will happen in the game and activities.”

Cameras and visual/audio learning activities will be available to students without the limitation of using a desktop as well. Using flexible technology can enrich time with students and provide focused and interactive lessons. Kids are already familiar with tablets but paired with a teacher that understands their learning needs can be a great combination. The items I requested will provide fun and interactive ways to work with a variety of student from a range of ages. Using the Ipad with the interactive manipulatives will create engaging activities and opportunities to learn.
