A Cubby Is a Safe For The Students

The cubbies have been an amazing resource to our classroom. We no longer have messy floors. Students no longer trip over their materials. We now have a place to store our mathematics books, science books, and our readings books. Before we had the cubbies, the students would store their materials and supplies on their tables or on the ground. This would create a mess and at times students' would lose their supplies because they would get scattered on the ground. Now that we have the cubbies, students like to store their books and even their special items in it. They know that the cubby is a safe place to store their things and we respect each others space.

When I first told my students about this project, they said that we would most likely receive the cubbies in January. They did not think that we would get the cubby. When I told them that we had the cubby funded, they were all very excited and could not wait to see it. The day that the cubby came in, they were very happy and we began to use them right away.

The next steps for my students on a classroom project is on flexible seating. Many of my students like to move around and cannot stay still in their seat, so by having flexible seating, it would help them stay seated. This would work especially during tests. They can be fidgeting with the seat while they concentrate on the test.”
