Basic Supplies for the School Year
Funded Sep 29, 2023Thank you for donating to my project. I appreciate your contribution as it has helped so much! We use the primary journals for writing and phonics. This has made it easier to stay organized. It has also made it easier for students to write and have a place to draw a picture as well.
All of the other supplies that we got have been used and they have helped out a lot. I got displaced to another school in the district before this project was funded, so when it got funded I had all of these supplies for my new classroom. It has helped out a lot.
Again thank you for supporting my project.”

Funded Jan 23, 2023This project had a positive impact in the classroom. We got items for our "star tickets drawings". In my classroom, students receive star tickets when they are on task, being respectful, and when completing a writing assignment/ correcting their writing assignment (adding more details). With half the items received from this project my students got motivated to write more and stay on task during whole class lessons.
My students were excited to get stickers, fun erasers, sticky hands, and small squishies. They all tried their best during writing time and it showed how much they improved in writing when given a motivation.
The other part of the project was a teachers pay teachers gift card. That was put to good use. We used that to get a writing curriculum that students can do at home and in the classroom. Students were able to follow the lessons and understand what an informative paper had to include. Overall, my students were extremely happy.”

Funded Dec 30, 2022The books we received are incredible. All students were excited to listen to the stories and look at the amazing visuals. With the books that I got, we used them for multicultural night. Every day we read a different book and talked about the culture within that book. I am Mexican. I have 2 students that are also Hispanic. It was nice to show a bit of our culture to the classroom and to the school.
The books were available for other teachers to read during the multicultural week. A dual language class benefited with these books. They speak Spanish in that classroom. The teacher introduced the books to her class and they learned a little more on Hispanic culture.
My two Hispanic students really enjoyed these books. They were shocked how there are books that represent themselves and some of their basic Hispanic routines on books. Both of these students only grabbed the books from this project. It also was not just these two students that kept reading these books, but also other students that were interested on learning more about the Latino culture.
I appreciate the support we got in funding this project. We all loved the books! I am excited to use them again next school year.”

Learning in a Comfy Cushion!
Funded Oct 3, 2022My students loved seeing the cushions. They were excited to sit on different things rather than sitting on chairs. They were all excited to try them out. When my students sit on the cushions they feel like they have the power to choose whether they want to sit on a chair or cushion.
We are using cushions during mathematics and writing time. It gives the students a little bit more freedom to learn in a comfortable way. Students use chairs when they are at their tables, but once we come to the carpet they use the cushions. Before we did not have cushions and most of the class got wiggly and could not stay still. Now with the cushions they are less wiggly and pay more attention during lessons. All students say how they are comfortable sitting down on the carpet.
Thank you so much for the donations!”

Funded Dec 13, 2022The Mo Willem collection we received is decodable for students to read. The majority of my students can pick up a Mo Willems book and feel like fluent readers. I began reading these types of books to my students out loud and no students use these during independent reading. These books help my students feel confident in their reading skills.
Reading in my classroom looks like students are in a comfy area enjoying reading their books. I hear laughter when reading Mo Willem books. I also hear imitation and voice changes to go along with the characters.
I have three students that love the Mo Willems collection. They read all of the Pigeon books and all of the Elephant and Piggie books. One of the students read some of the books out loud to the class. He changed his voice to match the character. The class loved it.
Thank you for the donations. My class has enjoyed and are still enjoying reading Mo Willem books!”

Chips on Fridays!
Funded Oct 6, 2022my students were extremely excited to have received chips for our snacks on Fridays! They saw it as a reward! They were happy to have received many different choices. My students were so happy when they saw the boxes of chips in the classroom.
We have also used these chips during birthdays when students cannot bring in cupcakes. We take out the chips. When we do not have school on Fridays, we save the chips for Mondays and it's a nice surprise for them. They think it is so cool to get chips on Monday and they say "we will have an amazing week! We had chips on Monday!"
Thank you for the chips! My students were very happy!”

Funded Oct 3, 2022Thank you for all the donations.
We use the three-ring white binders for writing time. We have the alphabet chart, letter formation, dictionary and our writing curriculum. We have used colored pencils and pencils, as we found that the students were responsible enough to use colored pencils.
We have used the color folders. Each color represents something, for example, purple is writing work, blue is math work, and black is homework.
All of these supplies have helped the classroom tremendously! it has helped a lot with keeping our classroom in an organized routine.”

Funded Sep 10, 2022Thank you for your donations. The three tier rolling cart really came in handy. We use it to organize our art supplies. We have our "how to draw" books on there as well as stamps. Students enjoy drawing. It really comes in handy during rainy day recess.
Students were excited to use the supplies. We had a limited amount of scissors, so the new ones really helped us out a lot. We also needed pencils as they tend to go missing quickly.
My artistic students have been enjoying the how-to-draw books. They are getting better and better at drawing. They like how the books are challenging their drawing skills.”

Funded Aug 13, 2022Students were happy to see we had anchor chart paper! We have used it for team points or team activities where students get anchor charts paper and they love it. I love that I can use this in my every day lessons.
I use the rack to hand my anchor charts that I will come back to. Makes my classroom more organized and it's small enough.
The markers really help bring on vibrant colors to my anchor charts that make it easier for ELL students to identify to. This helps them see what colors I used for specific subjects or examples.”

Funded Mar 2, 2022The students were extremely excited when they saw the new lego sets. They were mostly excited because now they had a bigger lego station and it meant that more students can play in that station.
We used the lego people when we were learning about our community. We talked about police officers and their roles, firefighters, singers, divers, garbage men, and more. I loved how the education people came with a variety of people. My students loved how it came with kid people, elderly people, and people with disabilities. This turned into many conversations in my classroom.
Once we learned more about the lego people and their roles, students were able to play roles with them in smaller groups. We had so much fun!”
