Seeking Laminator for Picture Communication Systems!
Funded Sep 7, 2022I have been able to create lots of new materials for my speech and language students with my new laminator! Specifically, I was able to utilize a holiday interactive book after laminating it with my pre-k and kindergarten students and my more impaired older students for a fun holiday activity that also targeted some important speech and language skills. I have also laminated some "WH Question Smash Mats" in which the students can smash a Play-Doh ball down on their laminated paper after responding appropriately to a "wh" question. All of my students have loved this activity!
My students are benefiting from using hands-on materials during their therapy sessions that are fun and are aiding in increasing their speech and language skills. Also, the laminator is quick and easy to use so I am not using up all of my valuable planning time to create materials.”
With gratitude,

Funded Dec 4, 2019I cannot thank you enough for your contribution that has drastically improved my ability to provide speech and language therapy services to my students. In particular, this is a much different school year due to the limitations we are experiencing as a result of the pandemic. I am using a "Speedy Speech" model of therapy with my students who are working on their articulation skills. I pull them into the hallway for ten minutes 3x per week, and we play articulation games on our new iPad. The app I use saves their data so I am easily able to see and track the progress the students are making. These students have been having so much fun with the iPad!
Due to the restrictions put in place to keep staff and students safe, I am unable to pull students into my speech room like a typical year; therefore, I am seeing the students in their regular education or special education classrooms. The iPad has been especially helpful with working with these students as I am able to easily carry it around the school and access different games, pictures, and materials for each student that targets their specific goals. Some students earn iPad time at the end of speech sessions for hard work during their session. The students love being able to chose an app to play. I find that many of my students are more engaged and have increased their participation with the use of the iPad.
In addition to seeing students in person at school, I am seeing students virtually. I use the iPad to access Google Classroom and Google Meet to have therapy sessions with these students. I am able to pull up materials or games on the iPad and share my screen with the virtual students so they can see the materials and participate in games.
Again, thank you so much for your contribution to my project. Having this iPad has made this different and challenging school year less stressful as I have the technology I need to provide effective and fun speech and language therapy to my students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Rachel
