New School, New Grade, New BOOKS!
Funded Sep 8, 2020Thank you for you generous support to get books and resources for my classroom. The books that I have chosen have now found their home on the bookshelves in my classroom. These books range from topics that include diversity, inclusion, and much more. Right now the students are working with identifying a book that is "just right" for them. We have a poster above our classroom library that goes through these steps. It has been a lot of fun watching the students explore the library and find a book that is perfect for them.
In my classroom I try to provide some free reading time during the day. This gives the students a chance to read a book of their choosing. Many have opted to use the classroom library books as their free reading choice. It has been so great to see them excited about the literature in our classroom.
On the first few days of school I told the students some of my favorite books from when I was there age. These books were able to be received because of this project. Many of my students are now eager to try out some of my favorite stories. Thank you again for bringing the joy of reading into my 4th grade classroom!”

Magic Tree House For A Magic Group
Funded May 21, 2020My students received their books and notebooks this past weekend. We did a " drive thru" so the students were able to see me and get their end of the year gift. The smiles on all of their faces as they received their gift and saw me for the first time in months was priceless. It was truly a moment none of us will ever forget.
While we were still in the building our class read the "Magic Tree House" series at the end of each day. We all gathered together on the rug as they listened to me read the story. After we read our few chapters of the day we worked on predicting what came next in the story. This is such an important skill in reading, and our read aloud at the end of each day provided some extra practice. I was able to gift each of my students with the next Magic Tree House book in the series. Now they get to have a book of their own at home, and can practice their reading skills.
I have already got multiple pictures and videos of my students using their new materials. They absolutely love it, and were so excited to receive it. Every time they look at these materials I hope they are reminded of their time in first grade, and the crazy things we experienced. I truly am grateful for the generous donations, and the joy I was able to provide my students.”
