My responsibility to the students is to help evaluate, assess and directly treat the child's strengths and weaknesses so they can learn and create to their highest potential in the classroom. Many of my students have a difficult time with their self-regulation. They are unable to sit for extended periods of time, making them miss out on learning opportunities. While there is movement for the students in the classroom such as desk to carpet and movement to other classes such as art or computers, it is not enough for my students. The sensory path will be made with colorful adhesive vinyl and inspirational motivational quotes that students will jump, walk, tip-toe and move their bodies so they can ready not only their bodies but their minds to return to their classroom eager to learn. Having the colorful vinyl and materials needed to create the sensory pathway will give the students the opportunity to engage in purposeful movement to help self-regulate and increase learning in the classroom.
