  • Robots for Coding Learning!

    Funded May 6, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity. We appreciate everyone helping make this project a reality for my Awesome third, fourth, and fifth-grade students.

We received our project materials during remote learning when I was reassigned to teach a different subject.

I have now returned to the school building and am teaching my computer science once again. I also have a new group of students this year enjoying the materials. The robots and learning materials give them alternative paths to learning reading, math, and science. The children are excited about the new materials.

They feel very honored to know that so many generous people put their resources together to support our class by funding this project and making it possible for them to now have the opportunity to design, create and code.

The robots and coding materials are now an essential part of our lessons. As they code, the children gain logical thinking skills critical for learning. These materials are highly beneficial to my ELLs and Special Needs. Coding is a way for them to shine and succeed because they can focus on the task at hand and see results quickly; thank you for your continued support of my students and teaching!

As the only CS teacher, I feel very fortunate for the opportunity to inspire and support student interest. Teaching children to code at a young age prepares them for the future. Coding is basic literacy in the digital age, and it is very important for children to explore, work with, and understand the technology around them. Coding helps children with communication, creativity, math, writing, and, most of all, building their confidence. I enjoy teaching and learning with the students. Without headphones, the classroom was noisy and the students are unable to hear the instructions on the tutorials designed for independent practice. Thus, I am requesting nine class sets of headphones, which will provide each student with personal headphones. Not only will this allow the students to focus and work independently, it will address hygiene concerns as they will no longer have to share.
