Basics & a Break!
Funded Dec 8, 2023Thank you tremendously for contributing pampers, wipes, and baby books for our students. Our students work hard to achieve their academic goals while being the best mom or dad they can be! This can be challenging considering our school is usually their 2nd or 3rd attempt to reset and refocus. Managing school and providing for their little ones can be overwhelming. I'm thankful that I was able to support our teen moms and dads every time they visited my office and requested pampers, wipes, or other baby items. Furthermore, your donation helped me build rapport with new and returning students and create a space where they felt loved and cared for.”

Basics Covered
Funded Dec 9, 2022Thank you for your donation of hygiene products. These items were used to distribute to students on an as needed basis and we made them available for students to pick up during a tabling event. By providing the toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoos and conditioners, this served as a "conversation starter" for other supports we provide student.
I used the tampons and pads to address period poverty among our students. Many of our ladies lack the financial resources to regularly purchase these hygiene products. I placed a box of pads and tampons in the women's restroom along with a bilingual sign for students to use as needed. I replenished the box at least twice a week. Students and staff thanked me for making this available. Students also reminded me when it was time to replenish and offered their assistance as well.”

Funded Dec 9, 2022Thank you for your generous donation to support our students. Your contribution assisted with my efforts as a clinician to provide social and emotional resources to aide in their well-being. The colored printer has been the most used item. I've used this to create affirmation statements to post in my office and around the school. Furthermore, I was able to embrace our diverse and inclusivity by printing items color and in English and Spanish.
The students loved the Bing bag chair. It was a popular addition in my office.
It served as a comfortable alternative to seating during groups when a student did not want to gather at the table. The chair was also used when student's took a brain break an and needed a quiet place to rest. I was thankful that a student found comfort in laying in the chair and falling asleep after crying as she described a traumatic event. I apologize for this delay in expressing my gratitude. I look forward to my student's benefitting from these items this year.”

Funded Dec 20, 2021Thank you so much for contributing to this project. Once student's learned that they could receive immediate support for their current or expecting children, the impact was measurable and invaluable. I've been able to directly give pampers and wipes to 3 teen/young fathers and 7 teen/young mothers on a regular basis. The student's were relieved to know that they had a place to get support without judgement or criteria. All they had to do was ask. As a result, I've been able to connect and build relationships with student's I didn't know (teen parenting group picture), maintain relationships with others that I had an established relationship and continue to provide a much needed service. More importantly, your support helped to alleviate one less stressor that they had to manage for that day. I'm sure we all can appreciate how 1 kind act can be so meaningful when it seems like we have so much manage.
Thank you so much for your generous and kind donations.”

Funded Dec 30, 2019Thank you for the generous donation of pampers and wipes. My apologies for the delay with sending this letter of gratitude. When our school received the boxes of pampers and wipes, the students and staff were thankful that I created and submitted this project because so many student's were in need.
When student's noticed the delivery, they immediately visited my office and made requests. With 39 known pregnant or parenting students, I quickly decided that I would need to ration out the resources to reach the masses. Students received one pack of pampers and 1 pack of wipes. They were appreciative and also supportive by notifying their peers to visit my office to receive resources available to them.
Since we are still experiencing the impact of Covid19 and student's access to resources are limited, I will continue collaboration with a local teen pregnancy and parenting program for continued support. I will communicate with returning and new students who are pregnant and parenting to capture their needs. Finally, I will submit a new Donor's Choose project and determine ways to safely provide assistance.”

Bundles of Joy & Promising Breakthroughs
Funded Sep 17, 2019Bundles of Joy Thank You Letter
I am writing this thank you letter to express my sincere gratitude for funding my project "Bundles of Joy and Promising Breakthroughs" on September 17, 2019. Since the beginning of the school year, I have been keeping a running list of pregnant and parenting students at my school. I was able to create and distribute 14 gift bags with the clothing items purchased for this project to teen mothers and fathers. The students used these items to provide additional clothing for their newborn babies and toddlers (0 – 12 months).
When I called students to my office to issue the gift bags, their expressions ranged from pure surprise to gratitude. The pictures attached to this thank you note captures their joy and appreciation. I only wish I could share more pictures! The students were so happy, the news traveled quickly around the school and parents of older children (2 and 3-year old's) inquired about items for them.
For some of my students, the next step will be approved maternity leave with school supports. In addition to the gift items, I arranged home instruction so they can continue their academic goals and make strides towards graduation. For the parenting students present in school, they will continue receiving social and emotional support from the school Social Worker when needed. They will also receive a referral to the New Heights program to take advantage of their resources. This is a program at our school that serves as a liaison to community supports for pregnant and parenting youth. This includes day care referrals, parenting classes and material assistance for babies and toddlers.
I sincerely thank you for your contribution to help our young parents.”

Funded Sep 2, 2019Thank you so much for the generous donation of pampers and wipes! I am a School Social Worker at Roosevelt STAY Opportunity Academy and I try my best to support our students with their social, emotional and academic needs.
We have a number of student's that are pregnant and parenting children ranging from newborn to 3 years old. I collaborate with the New Height's program within DC Public Schools to support the parent's with staying in school and securing childcare. However, the material resources available are limited. This is why the teen parents were super excited about receiving this kind of support. Initially, they requested full boxes of the pampers and wipes. I kindly informed them that I didn't have enough to issue a full box and distributed the items as fairly as possible.
Quickly, I learned that many of the student's were not able to benefit from this support as their children wear bigger sizes. I promised them I would submit another project to support children who are older and wear pull ups along with some clothing items! In addition, I will continue my collaboration with the New Heights Program to present round table discussions with the youth on positive parenting and securing a successful future for themselves and their children.”
