  • Stop, Think, Before You Pop

    I will be forever grateful for my new resources. My students and I are using them during group time. When the resources first arrived, I took the time, during one of my counseling lessons, to give a special shout out to some generous donors. I explained to my students how the donors were so generous and how the new resources would help tremendously. My students were so attentive. They were also proud that someone thought of the students of Saks Elementary School.

    After talking about our awesome resources, one of my students said, "Ms. Haygood, we need to write the people a thank you letter!" I was so proud my student for having the initiative to give the suggestion of writing letters. All students were so eager to show how they were grateful.

    These resources will continue to help my students practice strategies for handling their anger. Although they know that they will sometimes become angry, they also know that they will need to respond in an appropriate way. One of my younger students said, "This game will help my anger to get away from me". I knew exactly what she meant, and I was one proud counselor!”

My students need supplies to help support their coping skills throughout everyday life. They need anger management games and a thumball. We live in a world where anger is not managed appropriately. Instead of stopping and thinking, people react too quickly and make wrong choices much of the time. I strive to always take a proactive approach so that the outcome is less harmful for all students. I need anger management games and a thumball to use in a small group setting with students that need coping support; therefore, when they get to the middle school, they are more equipped to handle and diffuse different types of situations that may occur. These resources will be used faithfully as my students are my daily priority. These resources will help me tremendously. Please help me give my students resources to help them stop and think before they pop.
