  • I Believe in Art Education!

    Funded Jun 11, 2020

You have helped provide my incoming class with a creative outlet, and come this fall I can't think of anything more appropriate. We will be able to do projects all year with the watercolors, pastels, and paper coming our way thanks to YOU! Your donation will touch many. My heart is happy.”

  • Introducing an iPad to Gess Elementary

    Funded Sep 12, 2019

It has been so exciting to have an iPad in the classroom! Each day we figure out new ways to utilize this wonderful learning tool. In addition to exposing my students to this technology, I am working towards my vision of incorporating the magic of this device on a regular basis. Currently, my students can earn tablet time where they can access various educational apps which help students work toward mastery of the Common Core 5th grade standards while having fun. They hardly realize they're learning!

The tablet has also proved very helpful during lessons and independent work time. When questions come up, students can do a quick internet search to find the answers they're looking for. This has resulted in an increased number of questions and individual curiosity. It's satisfying to watch 5th graders seek answers to their own questions and expand their knowledge of their own accord.

We've also been using the iPad to connect families to the classroom by documenting in-class activities and projects, and sending pictures and updates home to parents.

In closing, I will share with you our Fact of The Day from DailyBrain (a classroom favorite app) :

    January 6, 2020

Burgers are three times bigger than they were in the 50s.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sautter

A classroom iPad will allow my students to create and produce projects, encourage collaboration, provide STEM experiences, allow access to a plethora of learning apps., and open lines of communication with families. Imagine daily updates easily uploaded to a classroom website with pictures, upcoming events, and important dates! Picture students excited to make an iMovie trailer to entice classmates to read their favorite book. Visualize a student who struggles with writing using the dictation feature to help get their thoughts on paper with ease. Not only is an iPad portable and easy to use, it has endless capabilities! I can't wait to introduce this educational tool to my students!
