Thank you so much for your generous donations towards supplies that could be used for for addtional resources for my special education class. The curriculum used for 2nd grade is often much higher then the level at which my students are learning. The materials your donations helped purchase have made learning more engaging, fun and effective for my students. The students love the interactive activities the bright colored paper has helped tremendously already. You generous donation has made for a more effective learning enviorment in my special education classroom.”

  • Learning Doesn't STOP When You Go *HOME*

    Funded Aug 16, 2021

My class consists of students with special needs learning on all different levels and are at different age levels. These "learning at home" kits have helped me differentiate tasks accordingly. Many students do not have supplies needed in school therefore really don't have any supplies for assignments at home. I was so happy to be able to gift theses kits to my class to use on our remote days and complete work at home. They have also inspired them to practice and create things on their own. Thank your for allowing me the opportunity to bring a smile to my class.”

  • It's OKAY to Take a BREAK

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

The social emotional needs of my students are a main priority this year. We are working hard each day to make sure that each student comes to school and feels comfortable in their learning environment. Some students have not attended school in person in over a year due to the global pandemic. Focusing on their social emotional learning is imperative during this time.

The materials this project funded have added many activities for the children to enjoy during a break from learning. They may need a break because they became frustrated or had a difficult time getting a long with a friend. Our break bins provide an outlet for the students to use strategies to self soothe and refocus their mind to the positive place.

Thank you so much from all of us in my class for making these bins happen and adding a safe place for us to "TAKE A BREAK."”

  • Take A Seat, Any Seat!

    Funded Aug 31, 2019

The impact of having flexible seating in my classroom has been tremendous these last few months. All of my students have special needs and greatly benefit from frequent movement breaks. The option of having a different kind of seat to sit in has great impacted student learning. The students are happy to have the freedom and flexibility to pick a seat that allows them to sit comfortably and move as needed. Our "wobble" stools and yoga balls allow students to get their "wiggles out" safely while completing work in class. Our floor seats and tables are so helpful in making group work successful and productive. Thank you for your help in making a positive change in my class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sweeney

Do you remember spending hours of school sitting in the same, hard, uncomfortable seat? I sure do and now as a teacher I find students learn best and are happiest when given the option to get up, move around, and take their own seat. " Flexible seating encourages students to find their bestspot to stay calm, focused and productive." My hope is to give my students the opportunity to find a spot in my classroom where they can do their best and overcome challenges! Sitting in a chair at a desk isn't always the best way to learn for some of my students; some learn best in a chair that allows them to move easily (for example a rocker) or seated in an area away from distractions. Students will get to choose their seats during various center activities in which they will participate in intervention and enrichment activities daily.
