The hydroponics food growing systems are a great way to introduce water conservation in our arid region. Fresh water is our most precious resource and makes up only 2.5% of the worlds total water supply. My students would greatly benefit from this water conservation hands-on project. Students would learn sustainable agricultural methods as well as environmental engineering designs. My students will enjoy the building and the cooperative learning experience that goes with creating a variety of hydroponic systems for our classroom. This project will highly motivate students that learn better through kinetic and sensory experiences and give them an opportunity they would not normally receive. This hydroponics experience will enrich and inspire my students' interest in STEM fields after graduation.
