Wood shop is a class that traditionally requires very little reading beyond the woods text book. By adding these texts and placing them in a small area I call the "Learning Resource Center", I am giving students the opportunity to open a text on their own to find relevant information about a new project or skill they are interested in. This will improve their reading skills and show them that reading isn't just for academic classes. I want to stress to them that reading is also very important in day to day activities as well as if they choose a career in the trades.
